Greenery (2023)

Hobgobling
2023
26cm x 20cm
oil on canvas

Greenery exhibition works consist of akwardly posed self-portraits with overly saturated colours. Body is seen as simplified shapes that create a statuesque presence to the otherwise trivial moments. Replika (2022)

Thirst trap
2022
65cm x 50cm
oil, pastel and spray on board

Replika is a series of self-portraits exploring the idea of degradation of media when it’s compressed either in digital or analog format. Quite like recording a copy of a copy of an audio or video tape. This often adds filter of noise which replaces the original information with new artifacts. Loss of detail brings out new kinds of perspectives to the original photograph the paintings are base on. Situations in the pictures are ordinary glimpses of daily life with underlaying tones scaling from serenity to anxiety.

Money Machine (2020)

MONEY MACHINE
2020
24 pages A5 4/4 self-financed zine
Money Machine was originally done for Zineton 2020 with a theme Poem & Sparkle. It has textually variant content about inner turmoil with just a right amount of hope in the midst of all the angst. Visually it leans heavy on the use of coloured pencil as the only medium, up-scaling original images to bring out the texture.

Toxic / Myrkky (2019)

Paint 0.0 (Emilia Mäkelä & Roosa Lalja)
2019
168cm x 194cm
spray paint, acryl and oil pastel on canvas

Toxic is a collaboration exhibition between Emilia Mäkelä and Roosa Lalja. It’s a collection of paintings delving in the murky waters of abstract expressionism but at it’s core is the pure joy of painting. A sewer flowing with colours and emotional disturbance creating vortexes of broken tones and lines that work their way through like thread in a labyrinth.
